The safety rules and standards behind the assessment
The following references concern employer responsibilities, equipment requirements, or manufacturer standards. They are not a remote safety clearance, and citing a voluntary standard does not establish that every provider is certified to it.
Trailers at the dock—MIOSHA Part 21, R 408.12176. Before a powered industrial truck boards a highway truck or trailer, the rule requires brakes set and at least two wheels blocked, or other mechanical means installed to restrain movement. It also addresses landing-gear inspection before uncoupling, front support for uncoupled trailers under 30 feet, and floor inspection. A broken restraint does not establish a safe alternative loading arrangement. Dockboards and levelers—MIOSHA Parts 21 and 2. Part 21 addresses marked capacity for dockboards and plates purchased after April 17, 1979, and securing a dockboard before crossing. Part 2 adopts federal 1910.26 with Michigan date substitutions: the run-off-protection provision applies to initial service on or after February 2, 2018 in Michigan, subject to the rule's no-hazard exception—not the federal January 17, 2017 date copied without adjustment.
